ATLANTA, GA — This work week in metro Atlanta begins with a chance of thunderstorms and warm temperatures. After a couple of sunny days, it will end with another chance of storms, and temperatures that are downright hot.
The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Georgia for Monday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible as a storm front moves into the area. Lightning and gusty winds, with possible small hail, are the main threats, according to the weather service.
After that, the skies should be mostly clear until the end of the week. Starting Thursday, another storm system could bring showers and thunderstorms north of Interstate 20, the NWS says. Meanwhile, pleasant spring temperatures are going to start climbing.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we’re looking at highs of either 81 or 82 degrees. On Thursday, though, that number jumps to 86 degrees, ticking up to 87 on Friday. While we’ll have a more detailed weekend forecast later this week, it’s looking like the climb will continue and we could be looking at highs around 88 on Saturday and Sunday.
Here in Georgia, we know that spring can turn into summer in a heartbeat. It looks like that’s what we’re looking at this week. Enjoy these few more temperate — and hopefully not-too-stormy — days and we’ll see when we could be looking at a 90-degree day after that.
